Week 3

Wow, another fast week... it was just like yesterday when I just posted my Week 2 entry... This is good cos before I knew it the year will be gone..

I would say that this is a good week, I finally managed to contact Zhu, got my increment and second part of my bonus, finish up a whole chunk of outstanding work and also managed to clock lots of OT (extra $$$!).

For a start, I received a surprise SMS from Zhu on tuesday morning. Apparently she was having problems with the receiver of her phone, which is why she can picked up call. She said she will get it fixed soon and wish me well. She SMSed me on wednesday night for a chat.. we had a long chat and talk a lot about personal things.. emm, we agreed that both of us should moved on and try to know more people.. ya, even when she was saying that, I could sensed that she wished that our circumstances were a bit different.. sad.. but emm, we have to move on lor... Zhu is getting on well, I congrats her on getting the award and we talked about her plans to open a shop and getting a driving license.. I asked her if she is off her busy schedule and she said yes, so I told her that I will resume calling her once or twice a week but emm, she told me no need to nd spend my time calling someone else.. once a month will do... emm.. o.k lor.. like I said not too bad lah, at least you still got a friend.. I told her I am not looking to get attached in the long run, which probably will be at least for the first half of the year as I am tied up with lots of work.. emm, let's hope some miracle appears... but emm, I still have to move on and not get too frustrated over this...

I am busy the whole week resolving the canteen issues and some compliance issues with the plant.. apparently there are lots of things that are missing but emm, no one knew it or just ignore it until I start digging them out.. emm, anyway, no point talking about the past, done or not done.. we have to move on and ensure it is done now! I was worried about the status of some documents and procedures that was supposed to be submitted but emm, after doing an audit, I find that it is not so bad after all, not a lot of the documents are missing, so emm, saved me some time to complete the filing process.. time is probably not something that is on my side.. everyday when I go to work, I would try to schedule my time to do different things but emm, guess what, some job requires a longer time that what I expected, this did not help with all the ad-hoc meetings and ground issues coming up.. still got some outstanding things that need to be updated, like that say, if you update regularly then it will be o.k, but if you left the updating undone for weeks, that is going to be a chore extracting all the information.. emm, except for this, I think the rest of my work is going on well.. at least that is what I hope for..

I did not get my appraisal letter unlike all my colleagues who have got them since the start of the month.. but emm, who cares.. when I check my pay on Friday, I noted that I have got an increase in my hourly rate (this is how MNC calculate their payroll)... the bonus was about $50 short of what I calculated but emm, still not too bad... for those who think that I am rich now since I got my bonus then you are wrong.. after calculation, I am still short of a couple of hundred dollars to pay my mom and someone whom I owe money to.. have to find money soon to clear this sum.. I have not been spending a lot recently but emm, I guess it is becos I kinda overspent a bit in December which is why this is now coming back to haunt me... planned to clear this sum by selling off some cards on Ebay.. at least it will help a bit...

I met up with Mr Mike on friday evening at AMK, took a real long bus ride from Bedok to AMK, from one interchange to another.. it was not too bad as I like bus rides.. especially long ones.. he got some cards from China to sell me.. ended up spending $300+ and also paid him the $150 I owe him so emm, $450 in all.. which is maybe why I got a slight shortfall on my this month's budget.. not sure if I can recouped all but emm,doing auctions is my hobby emm, and you never know what price it will sell for.. Mr Mike is becoming a father soon.. in March to be precise.. congrats to him.. we chatted for a while about money, the society, the government and also about my love life.. hahahah.. then I realised it is almost 8:30 liao and MR Mike and I have to rushed back to catch the Chinese Serial on Channel 8, the one starring Li Nanxing..

There are also some unhappy things happening during the week, things like the lousy football session, the bloody taxi driver, the colleague who just dun want to co-operation, the complain to the management and emm... some other stuff which I think I would rather forget.. have to stay positive right?... till next week.. have a great week everyone who is reading this..

Week 2 - The Light at the End of the Tunnel

The week past back rather quickly, maybe becos I am daydreaming or lazing around at work too much. I did not quite finish up the things that I set out to do at the start of the week. I wanted to finish my JHA, machine safeguarding and tonnes of other stuff at work but emm, maybe I set myself too much things to finish. On the good side is that I am so tired and sick that I am not thinking much about the unhappy things especially with Zhu...

I had planned to work OT on every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and alternate Saturdays. This would effectively adds up to about 50 hrs of OT which would give me some extra money. Money is something that will sure come in handy especially with the kind of situation I am now. Emm, more working hours should equal to more things been done right but emm, I thik it is not so for my case.. dunno why but emm, maybe I set too high standards for myself or I am just to concentrated on doing a certain thing that I find that I am not able to finish much end of the day. I was telling one of my colleagues about my current situation now, I have say five things on hand, all of which important (to the person who asked me to do it), so should I concentrated and try to finish 1 of the things first and left the rest where it started. Emm, people may end up asking me why there was no action taken after XX weeks for the other 4 items. Worst off, after completing 1 item, a new one most probably be given and you are back to square one with 5 unfinished items that you have not even started. This is why try to do a bit of everything everyday which may not be so good as I am not entirely focus but at least there are progress in everything unlike finishing 1 item and leaving the rest untouched. Got the point?

Colleagues comes and goes, this week it is one of the guys from the maintenance dept. No one initiated any farewell thing for me and for me which you may say busybody despite my tight schedule decided to arrange a dinner on monday night. I managed to get 6 other guys together with me and the guy leaving to have a halal thai dinner. Food was good, the ambience was also good. As I am the initiator, I paid for the bill first which comes up to $115 which is really cheap consider the kind of food we have.. emm, it works out to $16.50 per person but emm so far I only managed to collect from 4 person.. but then what the heck.. it is not much money anyway and I enjoyed the food... hahahah.. planning to go again next thursday.. my treat... anyone game?

The rest of the week past by as usual except that I reported sick on Thursday.. no football this week cos I treasured my life.. playing on a muddy field with mud and unknown item lying belong is not something I think I wanna do again. I went back to work on Saturday as I arranged for a meeting with a gas vendor and food caterer, we planned to set up a kitchen at the plant. Hopefully the ungutted fish, uncooked chicken and whatever you can think off would be a thing of the past once the kitchen is set up.. in the meantime, I will emm, go out and eat... hahaha.. met up with a friend to sell him some cards and then caught a movie "American Gangster" at tampines.. I had wanted to find some place to catch a nap as I have to go to Bedok to buy curry fish head for dinner at about 6 pm.. emm, ended up the movie was quite exciting and I sit through it.. good thing it last 2 hrs and 37 mins, but the time it finished it was just nice for me to pack the dinner.. as usual when I am giving treat.. buy plenty of food but ended up, my dad and brother is not back home yet , Mom dun wanna join me for dinner so have a lonely dinner again.. sian see bor...

I tried calling Zhu after dinner and later in the evening but she did not picked up my call.. was so tired so hit the sack after watching a bit of soccer... Tried calling her again this morning and in the afternoon but emm first thing no one picked up then it is in use.. emm, is she avoiding me.. but I thought we promised to be good friends... will tried calling her again this evening.. most probably she is away in some other city or really busy... emm...

Life is like taking a walk in a tunnel, waiting to see the light at the end of it..Like many people I am waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel, be it with my financial problems, my work.. my love life.. in the meantime, I just have to continue walking in the tunnel hoping to see the light soon.. if there is one...

Week 1

Happy new year to everyone!

So this is week 1, it is kinda of a lousy week for me.. was feeling tired and sick the whole week. Maybe it is due to the booze I have on new year eve. I normally stayed home on new year eve but I decided to hang out a little this time round. I started with joining my colleagues for a drinking session at some Filipino pub at Roxy. I went there with a friend from my RT session, yes.. RT.. the one where those people who failed their IPPT go to.. as my colleague told me he will be late, we found the pub that he mentioned and ordered a jug of beer. I was wondering why the filipino gers approach to talk to the other tables except ours. When my colleague Michael came along, I asked him and his respond was.. " they think that you may be a undercover police cos you dressed like one" hahahah... MY RT friend and I left the place after another round of drinks and proceed to some discotech or whatever you called that at Outram Park.. nothing sleazy about the place, plenty of young crowd and also uncles.. with a mix of Thai and Viet chicks around.. mine am I bored but all the loud music.. some thai/viet gers try to chat up but emm, my stern face and closed ended response probably send them the signal that I dun wanna be disturbed. My RT friend and another friend of his was having a great time dancing with the ger... I just sat down and enjoyed the drink.. as usual.. drinks are expensive on new year eve.. but what the heck.. it is new year eve.. nothing fascinating about the countdown, just that I got attacked by foam spray.. finally decided to call it a day at 1 am.. managed to get a cab or rather jump queue to get a cab.. but come on.. someone was alighting in the middle of the road.. I look around me and saw no one approaching the cab so I signalled to the driver and he beckoned me to get up.. eh... you have to take you chance when you have it...

The rest of the week passed by quickly for me.. went for a meeting on Thursday and was told of the corporate requirements and plans for my plant this year... nothing that I did not expect or cannot managed but just too many ways to approach it that I dunno when or how to start.. should I be a bastard and pushed people around to finish the stuff or should I be Mr Nice-guy and talk to them and "hope" they do their part.. it may be still early in the year but mind those of you who think the same way as me.. The first 3 months of the year is always the fastest.. so better to start early then be caught in the loop later on..

I have been going out for lunch the whole week as the food by the new vendor sucks and it is expensive, imagine some pieces of kang kong and a teeny weeny fish with rice will sent you back at $2.50.. I rather walk out and have my wan tan mee.. I hope the menu improve soon or I gonna have to re-evaluated my weekly meal allowance..

I had "planned" to do some exercise and try to lose some weight this year but have not done anything so far, so when someone approached me to play soccer on friday.. I take the chance to do some exercise but emm, not that I am giving excuses but it rains again when I wanna do some exercise.. so I thought cancelled liao but the guys wanna carry on as the rain is not so strong.. ended up playing on a muddy field and getting my shoes soaked and my whole body drenched... emm, also woke up the next morning with a slight fever and flu which I have not recovered as of now...

Was browsing through Zhu school website on friday and saw some updates on the school blog.. wow.. Zhu was given some award for best teacher for dance category for the competition she was telling me about.. congrats to her.. wanna to message her but emmm... just decided against it for personal reasons.. maybe I will call her tonight..

William was planning to go for a Bangkok trip end Jan or early next month and was trying to meet up with me but emm.. our schedule dun meet.. was suppose to discuss on MSN but he was not online for the past 3 days.. have asked Mr J if he interested to join us but he cannot confirmed becos of his film production schedule.. emm, maybe I should not have asked him since he always screwed up happy holidays for most of us with the lousy, negative and grumpy behavior.. we shall see how it goes...

On finance wise.. I am managing quite well.. except for the new year eve booze.. my spending is close to what I have given myself for the week.. next week gonna be a busy week... buying dinner for a colleague tomorrow evening as he is leaving end of the week.. also need to work more OT next week as this week was too sick and tired to work.. ya, lastly.. this is to Miss Jen.. bon voyage and enjoyed your well deserved break in Bali..
