Back To Basics
Hello?
I originally wanted to do a post yesterday night but as usual the tiredness and laziness get teh best of me. Anyway... today is my second day with my new company... emm, let's start with yesterday.
Reported for work at 7:30 am, emm, figure that it is the first day at work and also had a late night the previous day to do my auctions so took a cab to work.. ya ya, it is extravagant but emm just dun do it so often. Actually, given the fxxk-up timing that the company bus picked up at 6:55 am at Bedok and the bus journey between my home to Bedok will take about 20 to 25 mins, which simply means I had to wake up something like 5:30 and wait for the bus to Bedok by 6:10 - 6:15 am.. it is such a tortune. Not that I had not done it before, but age is definately catching up and I can no longer sleep less and wake up early like I used to when worked at Pan U. I also figure that the $10 taxi fare isn't that much since I will only take it for 22 working days month and they was also a $70 transport allowances given by the company. emm, so how? let me think...
Anyway, back to the first day, emm, report to HR and spent about an hour filling up forms and getting orientated by the HR Leader (yes, they used the term "leader" in US MNC). Anywaym during the walk around intro to the staff working in the company, I was intro the the ops manager, emm, let's call him LLS. O.K, i thought he was a nice guy and started telling him things, bad things about my ex companies... did not realise that because of what I said he was discounting me as I proceed. emm, luckily I stopped in time as I had to go for the staff orientation.
Nothing much on the orientation, the usual briefing, followed by a plant tour in Changi and Bedok. It wad during the safety brief that I met my predecessor, Mr N... o.k, he did not know that I was the person taking over him.. Anyway, he is a nice guy and we talk a lot on personal issues and work related issue. Then left for Bedok and after the plant tour, go over to see my manager. As he was briefing me on my roles and responsibilities, as well as his expectations on me, he sudden told me that Mr LLS told him that I talk too much, especially when I critize my ex-companies... o.k, my big mouth and my too easy trusting nature had get me into trouble again... anyway, nothing much, he told me a lot of things that I already knows and expects to do it but to be on the safe side and try to be more humble, I just smile and listen... it goes on until about 6:10 pm before I make my way out of the company. Figure that since it is already 6 plus, so decide to give Lim a call to meet for dinner... Meet up with him at our usual coffeeshop at Eunos, had a hearty meal of Hor Fun and Black Peppered Deer Meat before going for an ice-cream when we chat under a HDB block.. I told him about my conversation with my ching on sunday and how I am beginning to like her a lot and thinking of settling down.. but like usual, nothing nice will come out of him, he told me not to get married for the sake of getting married and take my time to look around and make sure first. Ya, I will be 31 in a month's time and since there is someone whom I met and is comfortable with, why not settle down? emm, anyway.. had a chat with him before going back home at 9 pm.
What did I do today? Oh, I went to Bedok today and spent a good half of the day doing some company Computer-Based Learning orientation program. A bit bo liao but emm, that is US MNC culture. I also chat a bit with Mervyn, the EHS engineer at Bedok, apparently he is currently taking the same degree course which I had completed and is finding it hard to cope and understand.. I tried not to act too sarcastic and told him that I can help him in the homework and assignment, almost can contain myself to tell him that I am a MERIT holder... Meng Chye! Be Humble Hor!!!
emm, afternoon, went to Changi to do safety inspection, dunno why but this company like make a big huha about the inspection and my manager treat me as if I am a greenhorn... and that hypocritic Mr LLS was there. emm, say hello to him but ignore me and show me attitude. anyway, what the fxxk, like I care. During inspection, met up with the Regional EHS Director, emm, Ellen (she is ABC), who talks with an American accent, apparently she seems to be very serious and focus on the EHS issues which is good and her job is to travel round the region to check on all the companies to ensure compliance. While she was talking to my manager, I spotted something on the racking and called Mr N to clarify, not intentionally but when I mentioned about the safety requirements on the racking, the EHS director heard me and stopped her conversation. She then called Mr LLS over and asked him about the concerns that I had raised up... bad move Meng Chye, you just stepped onto someone's tail.. better be careful now...
emm, anyway, so so tired and have to sleep now to wake up to see the champions league final... talk again next time.. yawn yawn...ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
